This whole week we have been learning about Greek gods. There are many
Greek gods but we are only learned fourteen gods and goddesses. We have
some similarities and some differences such as the Greek view of the world
and the contemporary view. Our class wrote down the Greek gods and
goddesses. We have to categorize their Roman name, realm, symbol, facts
and characteristics. Here are some important Greek gods and goddesses that I
think you should know of.
Zeus was the "king of the hill" and had a soft spot for women. His realm was
the earth and his symbol was a lighting bolt that was made by Cyclopes.
Zeus' Roman name is Jupiter
Hera was the queen of gods even though her marriage wasn't good she was
still the goddess of marriage. Her husband was Zeus. Her symbol was a
peacock's tail.
Poseidon was the god of the sea and earthquakes. His nephew is Hephaestus.
Poseidon's Roman name was Neptune and his symbol was a spear.
Hades was the god of the underworld. He kidnapped his wife against her
will. People called him Dis or Dis Pater. Hades' roman name is Pluto and his
symbol is a three headed dog.
