“The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse” Analysis
In the short story “The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse” by William Saroyan takes place at Walnut
Ave. This is a town at the edge of San Joaquin. It tells the story about a two boys in the Garoghlanian
family. Their family is known for their honesty but they aren’t the richest people but they enjoy the smallest
things in life. The boys are cousins and one of them is very adventurous and crazy and his name is
Mourad. He gave his cousin, Aram a good life experience, which is riding a horse. Mourad got the horse by
stealing it by someone local. Aram watched his cousin ride the horse and soon he did to. Aram didn’t like
the idea at first but when he noticed that his cousin was having fun he decided to have some fun to. Aram
normally is honest and it was hard for him to believe Mourad that he had gotten a beautiful horse. First
Aram thinks that is a dream but then Mourad told him that its not. So he trusted him. When the local farmer
comes by and talks to their parents about his missing house Aram gets worried. Aram says that he should
return the horse back to its owner, so the next day Mourad did. Once the farmer gets back his horse the
next day he says that the horse is calmer and tamed. In conclusion, Aram had a life experience that
evolved breaking one rule with was honesty.
