This week our class went to the Norton Simon Museum on Wednesday. This is related to English because there were pictures of Greek gods and goddesses. There were also some paintings that were Roman gods as well. At the museum there were many paintings and we got to choose our favorite painting. My two favorite paintings were Head of a Woman by Pablo Picasso. I also enjoyed another piece of art that was called Green Shirt. I don’t really remember if there were any Greek gods and goddesses. Little Dancer Of Fourteen Years is an interesting sculptor because I can sort of relate to that, because I was a ballet dancer when I was five or seven. In the tour we got to look at the Little Dancer of Fourteen Years, we saw how she was positioned all of us got a chance to demonstrate how the ballet dancer was standing. I learned that Edgar Degas enjoyed painting ballet dancers in their studio either practicing or just posting like the Little Dance of Fourteen Years. Another thing that we did during the tour was comparing two paintings. One of them was Ragpicker by Édouard Manet. That painting has a lot of shadows in the corners and the bottom of the painting. I forgot the other painting was called but it was this fancy woman who got an arragenged marriage and her husband left her to be with the woman he really loves. The story behind the painting is very interesting because she has her hair and scarf blowing with the wind. It tells the person who is looking at the painting that she is a strong woman who isn’t afraid of a challenge. The field trip to the Norton Simon Museum was very interesting, even though I don’t remember the specific names to the paintings but I do know how it looks like. I also remember the story behind the paintings. I enjoyed visiting the museum.
