Nharo is unable to keep himself from being afraid because the stories legend seem true ,no one to protect him, and he is afraid of the dark.

He keeps on talking non stop about scary things.
3.) Why does Nharo say, “But it would not help us to show Chemai that I was frightened too”? (p. 146)
He will get even more scared and he wants to be a big kid and doesn't want to be scared.
